Mr. Jurgensen, the Chief Executive Officer of Catalyst Law Group, brings more than 18 years of experience in technology-based law and business to his pioneering practice. Mr. Jurgensen founded Catalyst Law Group to provide intellectual property, corporate, securities, transactional and regulatory legal counsel to companies seeking collaborative, personalized service. Mr. Jurgensen is a member of several for profit and not-for-profit Boards, including Allylix, Inc., a biotechnology company he co-founded with Dr. Joseph Noel of The Salk Institute and Dr. Joseph Chappell of the University of Kentucky.
For many years, Mr. Jurgensen served in general counsel and executive management capacities for a number of prominent life sciences organizations, including The Salk Institute, Molecular Biosystems and Ligand Pharmaceuticals, and most recently headed the Intellectual Property specialty division within corporate law firm Blanchard Krasner & French, APC. With a unique ability to place scientific issues into a business context, Mr. Jurgensen is often called upon to provide guidance related to business development, transactional and corporate partnering matters in addition to his strategic, legal work. Before moving to San Diego, Mr. Jurgensen was Intellectual Property Counsel to 3M Corporation and an Associate in the Minneapolis law office of Merchant and Gould. Having played a key role in large, small and start-up companies, large and small firms, and a major academic institution, Mr. Jurgensen can bring to bear insights and experience rarely found in the legal community.
Mr. Jurgensen received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. He also earned a Master of Science in Animal Ecology from Iowa State University and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Oregon. Mr. Jurgensen has published a variety of articles and numerous patents.
