Mr. Kohn first began his career in science working for Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. For more than four years at Neurocrine, Mr. Kohn was part of the Pharmacology Department responsible for identifying novel small molecules and the type of interactions at a variety of receptors on cell surfaces. After Neurocrine, while pursuing graduate studies at the University of California, San Diego, Mr. Kohn was exposed to a variety of academic laboratories conducting research ranging from studies involving laser ablations of C. elegans neurons to measuring the effects of calcium transients in the developing Xenopus embryo.

Mr. Kohn entered his study of law determined to utilize his scientific background in his future career. His first clerking position was with the Office of Patent Counsel at the Scripps Research Institute as a registered patent agent. Mr. Kohn later clerked for the Honorable Jeffrey T. Miller in the United States District Court, Southern District of California.

Mr. Kohn earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of California at Riverside and holds a Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law. While a student at California Western, he was a member of the Student Intellectual Property Law Association.
